Art Blog: I AM … Ali

I am Ali low res

I AM … Ali.

As kids, we were ‘programmed’ to believe that we have to fit in, we have to behave in a certain way. If we do not, then we are not ‘rewarded’.  At a very young age, we go through emotional turmoil, where we are met with disapproval, scolding, cold shoulders, withholding of love if we deviate. And soon we begin to think we are unworthy. As we grow older, our self worth within society starts to get measured by the car we drive, who we date, success, promotions, pay rises. And this continues to add more and more layers on our worthiness issues.

Ali is the guy within us who knows that our self worth is NOT determined by society, by what people around us think about us. Ali knows that deep within us, deep in the very core of our being, we are worthy. Ali knows that we are no ‘less’ than the guy next to us. Our worthiness is not measured by money. It doesn’t make a man less than his compatriot. You were born worthy. That is a given fact. You were born to be you – uniquely you. Not a copy. An original beautiful you.

The only way to break this vicious cycle is to claim back your power. When you truly believe and know that you are worthy, then no matter what anyone says or does, no matter how much society tries to squeeze you into its boring box of ‘what’s acceptable’ … it won’t happen. Your worthiness does not depend on anything or anyone. You have the power to change anything and everything in your life. And only you have the power to claim back your self worth and own it forever.

This is one of my original signature series of abstract portraits that I am working on.  Usually created in a deep meditative state, with headphones on … just connected to my soul.  I used charcoal to create this abstract portrait on paper.

The original artwork & high resolution digital downloads of the artwork are available on Etsy.
