The tiny little problems…

I read a fab sentence today in one of my favorite author’s blog:

‘Why is it that some people can resolve the most complicated problems really easily, whilst others agonize over every tiny crisis and end up drowning in a glass of water?’

(blog link:  http://paulocoelhoblog.com/2011/04/30/a-saint-in-the-wrong-place/)

heheh I am like that … the biggest things can happen and I can resolve it, but come the tiniest of things, it can irritate the hell out of me! Maybe it’s all in the mind.  We take the littlest of things, we replay it again and again in our minds in repeat mode, then we add our imagination to it and boom! It’s a recipe for disaster!

As soon as we allow a tiny problem to stew in our minds, instead of finding a solution, we keep indulging deeper and deeper into the ‘how’, ‘why’, ‘what’ … and then our imagination starts to add different scenarios to it, things that had nothing to do with it in the first place. The ‘maybe’, ‘what if’, ‘ why me’, ‘how can this happen to me’, ‘maybe he meant that’ etc etc all creep in and starts to blur away the reality of the tiny problem.  Soon we have created a mountain of a tiny molehill, and then all we can think about is this little problem of ours that has now become a huge fire-breathing dragon that we need to slay, which has now taken possession over our minds and eradicated away our thinking capabilities.

Funnily enough … doesn’t that remind you of certain governments of today? They support small obscure groups to bring down other governments. Then these small groups acquire a life of their own, go on a completely different unexpected rampage and spread destruction at an even greater scale. It’s like lighting a small fire in a dry huge forest. You think it will only burn the wood you have given it to keep away the tiger you are scared of, but the hungry fire simply leaps and burns the dry grass around it, spreads to the trees and before you know it, it’s the entire forest burning down, enveloping you in its immense unbearable heat and killing all other life living in the forest.

🙂 The power of our imagination is literally that strong. It’s up to us if we let our imagination push us into the dark abyss of negativity or if we let it elevate us into the realms of positivity. Its our imagination … our choice to make… 🙂
